The Roma is a classic cooking/sauce/paste tomato with a fleshy plum shaped fruit. Roma tomatoes are a bush (indeterminate) style plant which grow about 4 feet high. I recommend staking them or providing a tight cage to contain the high yield you can expect to get from this variety. The fruit will ripen all at once (common with bush tomatoes) so get your canning/bottling gear ready! A deep, rich flavour but won’t overpower your meals. These are also a good variety to dehydrate or dry out. Their size (about 6-10cm long) makes the finished product perfect to add to pasta sauces or salads. I grow this variety every year along with the Super Sioux as they’re both perfect for making my secret tomato sauce recipe 🙂 Excellent for growing in small spaces or in pots too. Like any tomato, it enjoys full sun and can get thirsty so keep the water up.
