The Longkeeper tomato is perfect for the Tasmanian climate. If you’ve ever had trouble with green tomatoes that won’t ripen and the cold weather is approaching, this is the tomato variety for you. The Long keeper tomato will keep ripening on or off the bush well into the cold season. While the fruit does take a little while to mature (70 days from transplant) the result is a healthy vine that will keep pumping out tomatoes till the sun runs out (or the frost gets it). Pick them early (light yellow colour) and they’ll store for up to 4 months when kept in a cool, dark place without touching. Great if you want to have that fresh tomato taste well into the cooler time of year. Grow them yourself because they’re cheaper and better tasting that the crap you get from the supermarket.
