A very popular variety of tomato in Tasmania due to the fact that it does very well in the cooler conditions. A large (up to 10cm) fruit with a rosy red colour, the shape has ribs all over it so it’s not the prettiest tomato you’ve ever seen. It fruits quite early and has a good robust flavour. Very few seeds so can be used for sauces quite easily too. (I tend to use a combination of Roma, Super Sioux and Rogue de Marmande for my sauces – throwing in a bit of whatever else is ripe!) It’s quite resistant to disease too, but will grow up to 2m tall so stake this little beauty up nice and tight so the heavy weight of the fruit doesn’t pull the branches down.
